Akari Kawata(Korean:카와타 아카리 Japanese:川田あかり) is a trainee under Aqua Entertainment and a pre-debut member of STARZ.

She was born in Sapporo, Japan, she was just an ordinary girl living in an apartment, and her parents own a seafood market. She moved to Tokyo to have a better education. She graduated from Shinjuku Yamabuki High School. She was scouted in Japan while she was buying something, then Jeonghoon got near to her and noticed her and gave her a poster when he was in a trip in Japan, which gave her a good idea to become a singer. At first her parents thought it was a scam, but after some begging, they decided to let her move to Korea to pursue her dream. She was part of the audition where Kamika was. They both passed the audition, and she was part of the 8 people that passed along with Kamika.
She was part of the original line-up of STARZ, but sadly, after a year, she left STARZ due to a major injury when she was dancing to the members. When she was at the hospital, Yejin asked if she wanted to leave or not, and Akari wanted to leave due to the extreme pain of the injury.
