Aisha (아샤) is South Korean singer, rapper and actress under Orange Clue Media, she is a former member of the temporary South Korean girl group Blu for 1.5 years following her finishing in first place in KBS's girl group survival show ECLIPSE56. She made her solo debut on September 6, 2011 with the digital single Stranger.
History[]
2011: Debut with Stranger[]
On June 2, 2011, Source Entertainment announced that a new female soloist would debut that year and possible trainee candidates list who will be chosen by the company's CEO Sa Tae-Yeon. On July 6, Source Entertainment trademarked as single act the name Aisha and Venus meaning that 2 possible trainees would debut in a duo instead of a soloist that year. On July 29 it was revealed that Ryo Soyun was chosen to debut as a soloist out of the 13 possible candidates and that Aisha would be her solo stage name and Venus for group activities, her profile was released on August 5 followed by the name reveal of her debut digital single "Stranger" on August 20, the concept photos for "Stranger" were released on August 27 and the music video teaser on September. "Stranger" was released as a digital debut single by Aisha on September 6 the same day she won her first music show win on M Countdown breaking a record for single female act.
2012: Lipstick, Hiatus, Attention[]
On February 20, 2012, she announced that she would be coming back with her first single album Lipstick and the title track "The Baddest Female" on March. On March 12 she announced that she would go on a hiatus and that her first comeback would be postponned until her hiatus ends. On August 2 she announced that she would continue her activities and will make a comeback the same month followed by the music video teaser and concept photos on August 8. Lipstick was released on August 11.
On December 22, Aisha released her first mini album, titled Attention. The mini album's title track, "Scarecrow" topped various music charts within four hours of release.
2013: Japanese Debut and Melting[]
On May 2, 2013, it was announced that Aisha would debut on Japan the next month followed by concept photos and audio snippets of Aisha singing in japanese. On May 12 the album name was revealed as Dancing Queen followed by the highlight medley on May 18 and the music video teaser on May 21. Dancing Queen was released on May 25 with the title track "Coming Soon" it reached a Perfect-All-Kill on Japan and Korea in only 6 hours of the album being released. On July 6 a perfomance video for the b-side "Next Station" was released as a follow-up track after the album's promotions. On September 6 a video of Alpha-Chan and Aisha recording a new song was leaked on FNC Entertainment social media account's it later was deleted 2 hours after but some fans were excited for a collab between Alpha-Chan and Aisha. On September 15 it was announced that Alpha-Chan and Aisha would collab on Aisha's first full album coming up on November the topic was so popular that the Twitter hashtag #AlphaChan&Aisha was number 7 on various countries. On November 12 Aisha's first full album Melting was released with the title track "Mr. Liar" featuring famous singer Alpha-Chan.
2014: Acting Debut[]
On February 25, 2014, SBS announced that she was going to be the protagonist of the K-drama All of the Kimchi which was going to be aired in April 7. On July 13 she was featured on Girl's Day "Darling" she couldn't attend the song promotions for a leg and arm injury after falling off a rehearsal stage, she later recovered on July 21.
On September 12, she was announced as Clio Cosmetic's new model for 10 months and on July 13, 2015, her contract with Clio Cosmetic's expired. On September 29, MBC announced that she would be in the main cast for Lady Of The Storm.
On September 18 MBC announced that she would be the MC for Show! Music Core along with Kim Sohyun and Zico.
2015: ECLIPSE56, Blu and Time Bomb[]
On March 2, 2015, KBS announced Aisha as a contestant of ECLIPSE56 where 90 already debuted or experienced trainees girls will compete against each other, she finished in first place with 670,084 votes eventually debuting with Blu. The group's debut mini album Time Of Glass was released on June 16, 2015, with "Glass Bead" serving as its lead single. A few months later after she was announced that she will become a cast member of After School Club alongside Eric Nam and Jimin starting from August 18, however she was removed from the cast starting from episode 187 for unknown reasons.
She was a host in 2015 KBS Song Festival alongside Lee Hwi-Jae and Hani (EXID). She won the Grand Prize (Daesang) in KBS Drama Awards by Lady Of The storm and All Of The Kimchi, she also won the Best New Actress for Lady Of The Storm.
At the end of September 2015, Soyun was chosen to walk the runway on 21st Tokyo Girls Collection 2015 Autumn/Winter held at Yoyogi National Gymnasium, marking her runway debut. Aisha was chosen as a model on a music video named "Text Like A Pro", which was sponsored by Vivo for Vivo X 2015 K-Pop Campaign. The campaign was revealed by her parent agency Orange Clue Media as a collaboration between Aisha, AURA, Haruto and D-Hyun. On November 28, Orange Clue Media announced that she would comeback after 2 years of a solo release.
Time Bomb was released on December 4 as a single album including a instrumental and japanese version. The album sold over 29,000 physical copies on its first week. She won a bonsang on the 2016 Seoul Music Award's and digital single of the year. On Gaon Chart Music Award's she won December's Digital Artist of the Year.
2016: Unnies and 3!4[]
On March 2, 2016, KBS announced that Aisha would be playing Yoo Sang-won's college friend in mystery, thriller and suspense drama Babysitter. The drama aired on March 14 and ended on March 22.
On April 13, Etude House announced that Aisha would be the model for the brand followed by COSMAX and Scarlett Whitening.
On May 6, KBS revealed her as the 8th member of Unnies a special project girl group from the variety show later Unnies debuted with their first digital single Sister's Slam Dunk and the lead single "Shut Up" featuring You Hee Yeol. "For Stellars" was released on September 11 as a special single for her fans supporting her for the past 5 years.
After Blu's disbandment on December 10, 2016, Aisha returned to be a soloist and actress under Orange Clue Media along with group mate and label mate Yang Dam-Bi.
