Afterschool Girls (방과 후 소녀), also known as School Girls, is an upcoming 2021 girl group survival show. It is scheduled to premiere on December 2, 2021 on XS.

Concept[]

Afterschool Girls focuses to form a global seven-member girl group with the goal to be in billboard charts.

On July 26, 2021, the first video teaser was released. Public recruitments were held from July 26 to August 25, 2021 for any female born in 2010 or earlier. It was later revealed that the program received over 40,000 applications from countries such as United States, Japan, Canada, and South America, as well as Korea, by the deadline day.

Over 40,000 applications were received from different countries and 80 contestants were chosen. The 80 contestants were separated into 4 groups based on their ages.

Promotion and broadcast[]

From October 15 to November 28, a prequel season for the competition titled 'In School Girls (여학생에서)' was aired on Naver Now and SWAVE. During the show, the contestant profiles for all 80 contestants were released. Only 40 contestants will remain, 10 from each class, before being able to go to the official show 'Afterschool Girls'.

Each class performed on ASD Nightmine, a music television program also created by XS, with 5 contestants from each being interviewed by the MC's.

On November 2, it was announced that former WTG member Chaeeun will be joining the cast of the show, along with Lee Jae-woo, Yoon Hye-rang, and Kim Young-kwak as homeroom teachers for each grade.
