History[]
2001-2004: Formation and generation 1.5 artists[]
AURA Creative was founded in February of 2001 by Kwon Jung-nam and Jo Seung-hwan. Kwon Jung-nam had previously worked as a manager for legendary boy group H.O.T under SM Entertainment until a few months prior to their disbandment in January 2001. The companies first ever artist came in the form of a male idol group called Teen Team that debuted in November 2001. The group had their first and only hit in 2004 with "I Think Of You", however they failed to retain the success throughout their run as a group and they ultimately disbanded in January 2007 after all of the members did not renew their contracts.
AURA Creative debuted their second artist and first soloist, 15 year old Mi Jiyeon in November 2005 with the single "-". She took a music hiatus for over four years to focus on acting following the commercial failure of her debut single and came back with the single "-" in March 2010. The single gained attention for its clear inspiration from western artists like Britney Spears, and peaked at number 8 on the Gaon Digital Chart. She released her debut extended play Babe on September 2, 2010 with the lead single "My Boy". The song debuted at number 3 on the Gaon Digital Chart and rose to number 1 the following week, successfully re-launching Jiyeon's career. She followed the release up with multiple singles, EPs and studio albums throughout the following years.
