24D Entertainment is the Featured Company of June 2022
|
24D Entertainment is a South Korean entertainment company founded in January 1996 by musician Hyun Hae-won. The company's name, which stands for 24-Dimensional, symbolizes its vision of upholding a limitless expression of creativity as well as supporting versatile, multi-skilled artists whose projects span various sectors of the entertainment industry.
Despite not being part of the Big 3, 24D Entertainment is considered to be one of the most prestigious record labels in South Korea, due to being home to some of the country's most prominent or acclaimed ballad, folk, R&B and hip-hop artists at its peak. Its current lineup of artists includes Park Danho, Yong Hwa, Byun Yanbin, Heera, Awkward Boy Syndrome, Carboncopyluv, and Anomii.
HISTORY[]
24D Entertainment was established on January 1996 by former singer and A&R director Hyun Hae-won. Prior to being a businesswoman, she was promoting as a bubblegum pop singer under the stage name Genima, being signed to Libertas Entertainment. Despite being known for hit songs such as the 1993 doo-wop single "Lost Planet", she experienced exploitive and uncompensated practices in artist development, as well as unethical treatment of employees by the Libertas Entertainment CEO, industry mogul Cho Heon-cheol.
Following a months-long legal battle between her and the agency, she was able to get her contract terminated, despite being faced with risks of being blacklisted by the industry and even alleged anonymous threats from representatives of Cho. Thus, she set out to carve her own path in the music industry, launching 24D Entertainment to initially manage her activities but eventually reach out to rising talents. Her motto was reportedly to "underscore a strategic shift away from unhealthy reliance on media and entertainment monopolies, reforming the company's profit distribution from album sales, events, and other promotional activities further in favor of the artists, while broadening the label's horizons by fortifying resources and forging strategic connections."
In September 1996, 24D Entertainment signed its first ever artist, R&B and soul musician Chun Jihye. At the time, Hyun was nervous about the future of her company, as running a small talent agency was a severely challenging task in an entertainment industry dominated by chaebol-associated enterprises. However, she was determined to make her business endeavors work out, strategically reaching out to potential investors and contributing to the development of Chun's sophomore album to ensure that she would receive the attention of people. Chun Jihye would go on to become a successful artist, having one of the best-selling albums of 1997.
In February 1998, 24D Entertainment signed rock musician Park Danho, who surprisingly personally reached out to the company to get his albums released through the label. By that point, the company had been operating out of the three floors of a midrise building in Seocho-gu, Gangnam District, and earned a sustainable flow of profit due to Jihye's success. Despite that, there was another smear campaign launched by Cho against Hyun, accusing her of deliberately poaching former Libertas Entertainment acts such as Park out of spite.
2010s[]
In October 2013, 24D Entertainment signed Park Minjun, a former idol singer, indie musician, and instrumentalist who was fresh out of military service. His debut single, "We Just Don't Work Out", would become one of the top 20 best-selling singles in South Korea in 2014.
In May 2018, 24D Entertainment announced the signing of solo artist Yong Hwa.
In November 2019, 24D Entertainment signed Byun Yanbin, a singer-songwriter and actress who is best known for being part of the 2nd generation girl group Angel Eyes.
2020s[]
In February 2021, 24D Entertainment signed its second artist, former SeoulDolls member and solo rapper Yang Heera. Her debut studio album, 1992112, received unanimous critical acclaim and was recognized in several major music award ceremonies across South Korea.
In June 2022, major entertainment company Heaven's Entertainment announced that it is now a major investor and partner for 24D Entertainment.
In December 2024, 24D Arts revealed their first project trio act, Carboncopyluv, consisting of Kyler Kim, Shin Wooseong, and Isaiah Myung. They made their official debut on January 1, 2025 with the single "Mayhem Situation".
In March 2025, 24D Entertainment launched a new imprint called Emancipation of Music, named after the 2005 Mariah Carey album The Emancipation of Mimi. Its first artist was seven-member boy group Anomii, which was formed through the survival show Into The Spotlight and consisted of winning contestants Hong Heonbo, Benjamin Castro, Nam Hyunwoo, Song Wonchan, Song Gyujin, Choi Jaewon, and Kim Sungwon.
HEADQUARTERS[]

The 24D headquarters is formally named the Montmarte Park Place, located in Seocho-gu, Gangnam, South Korea. Notably a Victorian architecture style and spire roof, it is labelled by several entertainment news sources as one of the best K-pop agency headquarters, and also one with significant historical value.
The 24D headquarters consists of four floors, including a basement level.
The lobby features an antique chandelier and furnitures that have been part of the structure since the 1970s, in addition to framed original photos of every artist managed by the agency.
The basement level consists of a medium-sized dance practice room and a conference room. The second to fourth floor house other essential rooms including a newer dance studio, kitchen pantry, and open-plan offices.
A small building behind Montmarte Park Place was purchased in the early 2020s with the help of investors to house the company’s additional operations.
