Performances[]

The 2022 MBS Artist Awards opens with the performance of rising boy group H6bble, with a bright stage that is themed after the journey of brave young boys through the unpredictable depths of space, delivering a message of never limiting yourself from achieving your highest potential. This is followed by iconic dark concept girl groups Playground and Illustrious Girls of The Academy, who each perform their biggest singles this year followed by a joint cover of KARA's 2010 hit single "Lupin". Life5 takes reference from retro video games as they perform a chiptune-influenced remix of their song "Tropicana" as well as "Next Stop".

Indie girl band then GRAYA takes the venue by storm, exuding an aura of unabashed individuality and female empowerment as they play a series of experimental rock bangers on stage. Ninenzaka46, special foreign guests from the J-pop industry, then perform their newest single "Kimi Ni Shikarareta" before being awarded the honorable Best International Artist award. Sporting her inner Michael Jackson, viral sensation YUKI performs her hit single "Like Dancing", which became known for its dramatic but satisfying ascent to the top of the South Korean charts this year.

The next performers are the joint duo Kim Ryan and Siren, who perform their respective critically acclaimed songs "Lonely" and "Affogato" in an orchestral-style arrangement that compliments their emotional vocals that brim with soul. The magical atmosphere of their stage is continued by female pop star Ni.U, who arrives onto the performing stage like a princess being paraded through the kingdom. She performs her hit singles "Great Wall of Love" and "Golden Belle" in a grand yellow dress, and in the end, kneels in front of her male love interest and hands a rose, a reverse in traditional gender roles. In line with the recent Y2K trend that has stormed the fashion and music world, Nation's Girl Group C9PID performs a medley of their hits "Glassy", "Fiesta", and "Full Circle" in colorful clothing and backdrops that are a callback to the optimistic atmosphere of the late 1990s.

Perhaps the most extravagant stage of the night, Solviz performs a more gospel-like and dramatic rendition of their songs "Fever" and "Fire (Voodoo)", showing that they are more than just vocal powerhouses but also seasoned performers who are worth watching in person. As the lights of the SOLVIZ stage go dark, a spotlight appears in front of member Xavier. As he walks down the path, he is suddenly surrounded by multiple enemies. He takes down all of them martial arts style as traditional instruments progressively get louder in the background. He finds himself alone again after beating everyone, when Jack appears and points a gun in his head. "You were a tiger, in disguise," Xavier mutters. The lights turn red and Jack shoots him. And thus, 6topia's apocalyptically beautiful performance of their comeback song "Fiend" closes the lineup of performances for the night.
