1Y (Japanese: ワンウェイ; Korean: 원왜이) is a 6-Members Japanese Girl Group under MAKE Japan. They debuted on May 19, 2022 with their first digital single "One You".
The name is a combination of the number 1, representing the members coming all together as one, and the first initial of the words Young or Youth that represents the concept of the group. Their name is spelled as One-Way.
History[]
Pre-Debut[]
MyWorld Entertainment back on 2018 announced a subsidiary that would be going by the name MyWorld Japan, and that they would be hosting auditions for a whole year all genders on, with the first group to come out from the company would be a girl group based on Japan.
2019-2021: Announcement, Debut Delay[]
On December 31, 2019, MyWorld Japan announced that they're going to give details into the girl group in the following year, slowly revealing trainees who are potential chosen for debut. Within the first 5 girls revealed were Kamikura Arai, Ito Sia, Nodo Sakura, Oyama Rinna and Kota Chizuru.
on February 24, 2020, MyWorld Japan announced that the girl group would be debuting on June 30, 2020.
Later on May 10, 2020 it was announce d that the debut had to be delayed to October 21, 2020.
Later on early October of the same year it was revealed that the group's debut would be once delayed for the year 2021 for unknown reasons.
On March 14, 2021, MyWorld Japan announced that Rinna and Chizuru had left team to pursue careers elsewhere. After that the group went on a long hiatus until December 24, 2021, Where three new members were revealed, Sato Miyuka, Takahashi Yuna and Masuda Juni.
2022-2023: Name & Debut, Releases[]
On January 1, 2022, The official group name was announced to be 1Y and that their debut is set for May 2022. Fans were excited after the official statement that everything had finally been decided. The members were revealed starting on January 4 to January 10 of 2022 starting from Arai, Sia, Mimi, Sakura, Yuna and Z. The group started with pre debut activities with a YouTube reality TV show on behind the scenes and fun activities from the group.
On August 1, 2022, MyWorld Japan announced that the group would be making their comeback with their first Full Album "Key 2 Youth", which is set to be released on February 28, 2023, It was revealed that before the release of the full album the girls would be releasing two singles, one in September and one in December.
on August 12, 2022, MyWorld Japan revealed that the group would be making a next comeback with their next digital single My Style, set for release on September 23, 2022.
On November 14, 2022, MyWorld Japan revealed that the group would be making their next comeback on December 9, 2022 with the digital single Now. It is the last scheduled release before the release of the full album Key 2 Youth.
On January 21, 2023, MyWorld Japan revealed that member Mimi would be changing her stage name to her real name Miyuka.
On March 31, 2023, MyWorld Japan revealed the official fandom name for the group 1LY "spelled as Only" meaning that the girls can shine brighter only when the fans are together with them.
On June 11, 2023, MAKE Japan (formerly MyWorld Japan) revealed that the group would make a comeback with their first EP "Love Yourself". The EP is scheduled for release on July 5, 2023.
On November 1, 2023, MAKE Japan announced that 1Y would be making a comeback with their next digital single "Comma". MAKE Japan revealed that the digital single is part of the group's upcoming EP that would be released sometime in 2024.
2024-Present: Japan Tour, Releases[]
On February 20, 2024, MAKE Japan announced that 1Y would be releasing their second EP 'Voila' on May 1, 2024. At the same time, they announced 1Y's Japanese tour 'World 1 Youth' Starting on December 1, 2024. More information on the tour would be revealed during summer.
On October 2, 2024, MAKE Japan announced that 1Y would be releasing their fifth digital single "So Me". The single would be released on November 13, 2024. The single is said to showcase a different side of 1Y.
On May 26, 2025, MAKE Japan announced that 1Y would be releasing their third EP Love Puzzle, the EP would be released on July 2, 2025.
